There will be a meeting of the BPC Planning committee followed by a Finance & General Purpose Committee meeting on the 12th December 2023.

Surrey County Council have been made aware that flooding may have occurred in the Smallfield / Burstow area on May 9th.

Residents should report any flooding issues as follows:
How to report:

•     If there is a threat to life – call 999
•     If there is road flooding – call Surrey CC (Highways) - 0300 200 1003 or email: highways@surreycc.gov.uk
•     If sewers and foul water are involved – call Thames Water - 0800 316 9800
•     If a main river watercourse is involved – call the Environment Agency - 0345 988 1188
•     If residents experience property flooding, report to flooding.enquiries@surreycc.gov.uk or the website Report it pages.”

The Police have noticed an increase in the number of ‘close pass’ incidents lately, with reports both of horses running loose on country roads, and of drivers passing too close to riders.

We investigate every report we’re made aware of. If you’re a driver and come across horses running loose in the road, or a rider who has been involved in a close pass incident, we strongly encourage you report it to us. Riders can also use the Horse i app to report incidents to the British Horse Society: https://www.bhs.org.uk/go-riding/report-an-incident/incident-report-form/

Tips for drivers: (Highway code Rules 163, 166, 212, 215 et al)

• Slow down to a maximum of 10mph when passing horses in the road.
• Please don’t sound the horn or rev your engine around horses.
• If safe to do so please put at least 2 metres between yourself and the horse when passing.

• Make sure you and your horse wear high vis clothing when out riding so you can both be clearly seen.
• Consider wearing a body camera to capture any evidence of dangerous driving on the roads.

The Parish Council have been advised by the District Council that a gardening business have been refferred to Trading Standards and that residents should make their own inquiries to satisfy themselves that this business is legitimate.
